The consensus around Arizona is that John McCain made a huge mistake in shifting his immigration advocacy to that of a would-be restrictionist.

McCain's massive flip-flop hasn't fooled anyone. So absurd is McCain's shift that even the Main Stream Media cannot stop laughing at him. [After Dismissing Fence, McCain Touts It in Ad, by Jonathan J. Cooper, Associated Press, May 13, 2010]

The result is that every time McCain appears on Arizona television, we're reminded of what he really is: a liar and a shameless opportunist. (See McCain ad "Complete the Danged Fence" here.)
