• A farmer in Naboomspruit in Limpopo province of South Africa was confronted by two home invaders after being aroused from his sleep.

Besides ransacking the home and taking two generators and a grass cutter, accomplices made off with 33 goats.

• Three black males assaulted an elderly couple at a farmhouse in Brits in North West province.

Reports say Willie was bound and brutally beaten while his wife’s head was beaten. Paraffin squirted in both victim’s eyes.

Injuries included a broken jaw suffered by Elmarie and broken ribs suffered by Willie; the result of being kicked and beaten.

Stolen was a cell phone and a small amount of cash.

• An unidentified woman was robbed while feeding horses on her Rietspruit farm in Standerton in Mpumalanga province.

The victim suffered superficial wounds when she resisted. The attackers made off with R15000 cash from the woman’s car and another R500 from her wallet.

The stolen R15000 reportedly belonged to her employer.

The victim’s bank cards and license were also taken.

• A 79-year-old woman was attacked at her farmhouse in Vanwyksvlei in Northern Cape province.

Reports say Marie de Bruyn was attacked by a long-time employee using a pickaxe handle.

The victim lives with her daughter and son-in-law, who were not at home at the time of the attack. The attacker was arrested.

• A 77-year-old woman was confronted by a knife-wielding attacker on a farm near Harrismith in Free State province.

The attacker apparently gained entry into the house through a window.

Two suspects in possession of liquor, a wallet and a bag taken from the victim’s home were arrested.

• A 40-year-old man died after being shot in the face at a farm near Brits in Northwest province.

A second man was wounded.

• Two security guards were overpowered by four attackers at a farm in Harrismith in Free State province.

The attackers were armed with a firearm, spear and knife. They made off with a number of items, including a welding machine, generator and tools.

• 89-year-old Elizabeth Lee died after being beaten with a chair in Rawsonville in Western Cape province.

A 15-year-old was arrested after being found hiding in a cupboard at the farmhouse where the attack occurred. He apparently entered the home through an open door.

• Four farm workers, including a foreman, were assaulted and bound in Bamboesspruit in North West Province.

While the victims were bound in a storage area, the attackers entered the farmhouse, taking firearms and cash.

• 70-year-old Hedley James Brown was found dead in his garden in Howick in KwaZulu Natal province.

The deceased cattle farmer had been bound. He suffered assault wounds to his face and was stabbed twice in his back, which were deemed fatal.

Brown had been a noted rugby player in Amanzimtoti on the south coast.

• A would-be home invader was fatally shot as he attempted to scale a fence at a farm in Springs in Gauteng province.

Reports say the farmer was awakened by noise and noted the suspect entering the property. After the farmer shouted at the intruder, the suspect leveled what appeared to be a firearm. That prompted the farmer to shoot.

The farmer was reportedly arrested for murder.

• A 68-year-old man and his wife, age 58, were bound and beaten at their farm in Ohrigstad in Limpopo province.

Also attacked and bound was the woman’s 80-year-old mother.

The intruders made off with a number of items as well as the farmer’s pickup truck.
