OT, but related to blacks’ love for murderous scum.

Kanye West and Drake

Black/ish male pop stars so popular that even I have heard of them. They are big global stars with artistic ambitions rather than the usual run of expiring rappers.

did a benefit concert for Larry Hoover, the founder of the Gangster Disciples.

70,000 people at the L.A. Coliseum.

He’s in some super-max prison for hundreds of years because of multiple convictions for murder (a state charge in 1973) and running the Disciples from prison thereafter. Basically he did a lot of groundwork to ensure that Chicago would hold onto its preeminence as murder capital.

Mrs. Tex had the misfortune to live in a Disciples neighborhood. It was well-known in the area that the gang initiation rite was raping an elderly woman.

I have no idea why West and Drake are passionate about this, except that to be taken seriously as a black entertainer you have to want to free lots of black criminal thugs. The funniest take on this comes from The Pitchfork.

Here’s What Happened at Kanye West and Drake’s Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert
Spoiler: They forgot to mention Larry Hoover

Best quote:

What is clear is that lots of people said the name “Larry Hoover” over the past week, many more than already deify him in his hometown of Chicago for the positive work he did in his community, in parallel to helming a multi-million dollar narcotics operation. Maybe more people will learn about how the Gangster Disciples used those drug profits to support a community abandoned by its government, funding neighborhood cleanups, voting registration drives, and food distribution programs. At trial, even Ronald S. Safer, the Assistant United States Attorney prosecuting him, admitted in his opening that the gang offered more than mere violence: “This is not a group of street thugs. This is in a very real sense an outlaw form of government.”

Irony or post-irony?

It has something to with the Trump/Kardashian/Kanye get black men out of prison effort.
