There is miserable weather here at VDARE.com's castle in West Virginia on this first day of 2021. It’s gray and cold, and there is a freezing damp that can’t decide whether to rain or snow. The Great Hall is dark and drafty because we’ve put out the roaring fires, turned off the chandeliers and moved the team up to the castle’s cozy and intimate second floor to recuperate—not from any New Years Eve festivities, but from the marathon Year-End Fundraiser that concluded at the stroke of midnight last night.

The tally is not final, and likely won’t be for another few weeks while checks drift in at the leisure of the extraordinarily slow USPS. But I can say with a fair degree of confidence that for the second year in a row, we hit our $200,000 goal.

For all patriots who stepped up to their checkbooks, credit cards and crypto wallets: you have my most profound thanks.

I know I speak for the entire VDARE.com team when I say that I’m humbled by your kindness and support, and inspired by your courage and resilience.

Once the dust settles, I’ll share more details and my reflections on what it means and how we did it. But for now, I’m going to take my three daughters, below,  for a freezing wet walk along the craggy spine of Warm Springs Mountain, look at the misty view from the top, and remind them that this is America.

America is legitimate and good. And it belongs to them, if only we can fight hard enough to preserve it.
