I hear that former President Jimmy Carter is in hospice. It is wrong to speak ill of the dead, so, I better get my licks in while I can. (Bad joke.)

I’m convinced that future historians will look back on the demise of the United States as caused by mass migration. Hence, where politicians stood on the question of immigration is all important.

Carter was fully on board with what would later become the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA). Just as DACA was not able to be passed during the Obama administration, it was not as if its proponents then gave up and went home. They were/are persistent in trying to ram through the legalization of lawbreakers.

Reagan, Bush et al. will go down in history as disastrous presidents because of their support of the invasion.

A few years back, one of my friends called me to tell me he had been on the protection detail for Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro when he came to New York for the U.N. General Assembly. Maduro was constantly in the company of the Russian foreign minister and, according to my friend, Maduro was meeting with actor Danny Glover. Slightly more surprisingly, Maduro met with Jimmy Carter [Carter Center Statement: President Jimmy Carter Meeting with Nicolás Maduro, President of Venezuela, September 27, 2015].

Officially, they met to talk about river blindness diseases and the elimination of them. That’s possible. But, it will fuel conspiracy theories about what else they talked about. Did the manipulation of elections ever come up?

Jimmy Carter and former Secretary of State James Baker participated in the 2005 Carter-Baker report that detailed how to prevent or commit fraudulent elections.

They called on states to increase voter ID requirements; to be leery of mail-in voting; to halt ballot harvesting; to maintain voter lists, in part to ensure dead people are promptly removed from them; to allow election observers to monitor ballot counting; and to make sure voting machines are working properly.

Or, you could say, they made a blueprint in how to commit election fraud for future use. The Carter Center has since run away from its 2005 findings, supporting voting by mail, etc. [Carter Center Statement on Voting by Mail for 2020 U.S. Elections, May 6, 2020].

Carter will go down in history as a disastrous president on many levels. Election integrity will be one, the other is immigration.

Let us not forget Carter’s support for refugees over Americans with the United States Refugee Act of 1980.
