Russian Figure Skaterinas Are Here To Remind Us Of The Hot/Crazy Trade-Off

The Japanese girl who finished third in women’s figure skating Olympic competition looked happy to be there. But outside of sane Japan, the world was more worked up over Russian diva Kamila Valieva falling down 3 times and finishing out of the medal hunt after being snagged taking a heart drug said to improve endurance. Look, Russian coaches, you shouldn’t drug the world’s most exquisite (and healthiest) 15-year-olds. Is that all that complicated?

The Russian silver medalist Trusova, from Reuters, said after attempting five quadruple jumps:

“Everyone has a gold medal, everyone, but not me. I hate skating. I hate it. I hate this sport. I will never skate again. Never,” Trusova said as she briefly left the sight of Eteri Tutberidze, who coaches her, Shcherbakova and Valieva. “It’s impossible. That’s now how it should be.”

While the winner Shcherbakova stuck to traditional skating music, runner-up Trusova danced in a black leather miniskirt to Iggy Popp and the Stooges’ heavy “I Wanna Be Your Dog” in John McCrea’s cover from the Disney movie Cruella:
