The AP story [Attackers post video of assault on victim's Facebook page, December 2, 2015] mentions nothing about either the race of the attackers or the victim, but it does post the pictures and names of the attackers: Nikey Dashone Walker and Shadeed Dontae Bey. The AP says that the Sheriff's Office released video, but can't be bothered to post picture of the attack or the video. The Daily Mail, which always gives better value for your news clicks, provides both photos and video—the victim, who has cerebral palsy, is a white guy.

All the news items seem focused on the fact that the white guy has cerebral palsy:

The 23-year-old victim, who has cerebral palsy, told deputies two men stole his cellphone and when he followed them in the building they beat him in a stairway, punching him in the head and kicking and spitting on him.

The pair filmed the assault and posted the video on the victim’s Facebook page as well as their own personal pages.

The pair — Nikey Dashone Walker and Shadeed Dontae Bey, both 20 years old — were arrested Monday and are charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. .

Walker has past convictions for unlawful driving away an automobile and Bey for felony larceny, trespassing, possession of stolen property, possession of controlled substances and resisting arrest.

“Preying on those in our community who suffer from disabilities will not be tolerated and furthermore, to have the audacity to post their actions on the victim’s page is beyond belief,” Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard said.

Surely the disability isn't the issue here—isn't it more likely they were motivated by his race?
