His name is Dennis Kendrick: a white single father from a 95% white community shot to death at close range by a black male.

Marcus Nathan has been officially charged in the shooting death of 54-year-old Dennis Kendrick.

Kendrick is described as a hard working father for his bi-racial son. He was a survivor of cancer, as well as a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. Kendrick had been working at American Axle as an automotive machinist for 11 years. 

While preparing to leave for work around 3:30AM on Wednesday, April 20th, Kendrick was confronted by Marcus Nathan, a fellow resident of the Oxford Township apartment complex. Authorities report that Nathan had been pacing the apartment parking lot searching for a man who sent him threatening text messages when he confronted Dennis Kendrick, mistaking him as the sender. Nathan shot and killed Kendrick at close range with a 9mm handgun.
