Wells Fargo banks have paused their mortgage lending program for White applicants in order to prioritize, quote, “minority communities”.

The company’s Head of Home Lending and Head of Diverse Segments, Representation, and Inclusion, Kristy Fercho said:

“We will continue to expand our programs to reach more customers in underserved communities by leveraging our strong partnerships with the National Urban League, Unidos US, and other non-profit organizations.” 

Additionally, Wells Fargo will invest $100 million to, quote “advance racial equity in homeownership” and another $150 million to help, “more Black and Hispanic families achieve homeownership.”

The bank is following a startling trend, as Bank of America previously began offering Hispanics an exclusive 0% down payment without closing cost for first time home buyers last September.
