I have an item of beauty pageant news from Southern Rhodesia. This is kind of interesting. Oh yes, right; it’s not called Southern Rhodesia any more. It’s called … what? Oh, yes: Zimbabwe!

Yes, Zimbabwe. September 16th they crowned 21-year-old Brooke Bruk-Jackson their national beauty queen, Miss Universe Zimbabwe. She will be representing her country, Rhodes… I’m sorry, Zimbabwe at the 2023 Miss Universe pageant on November 18th in El Salvador.

This is Zimbabwe’s first crowned beauty queen in 22 years, and … she’s white! [”My Ancestors Rolling In They Graves: White Woman Wins 2023 Miss Universe Zimbabwe Over ‘Melanated’ Candidates, by Angelina Velasquez, Atlanta Black Star, September 22, 2023].

Her skin isn’t even brownish, like Cheddar Man’s or Philippa of Hainault’s; it’s as white as snow, as white as a Barack Obama campaign team.

Since only two percent of Rhodes… sorry, sorry: of Zimbabwe’s population is not black African, this has caused considerable grumbling.

What’s the matter with people down there? Don’t they know that diversity is their strength?
