Elon Musk Skewered For Posting ‘They…Want Your Extinction’ After Robert E. Lee Statue Melted Down, Mediaite, October 27, 2023
Elon Musk was called out for “reckless instigation” after a purported relative of Robert E. Lee posted about the Confederate general’s bronze statue in Charlottesville, VA, being melted down in “secret.”
The original post referenced a Washington Post article titled, “Charlottesville’s Lee statue meets its end, in a 2,250-degree furnace,” that included video of the meltdown.
“Literally my ancestor,” @GigaThaad posted. “We carry the Lee name as a first/middle in my family. While I didn’t need a directly insulting gesture to tell me that my kind is hated and many seek our extinction (the implicit cues were strong enough) I appreciate this image making it absolutely clear.”
The post prompted Musk to tweet, “They absolutely want your extinction.”

Sherrilyn Ifill, former official with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, admonished Musk, tweeting, “What a thing to say. Reckless instigation which, given many of his followers can be so dangerous.”
Others questioned Musk’s reference to “they,” after he failed to clarify.
Who ultimately is “they”?

Musk, who grew up in South Africa during Apartheid, has been accused of supporting racism and anti-semitism.
In the article, Post reporters Teo Armus and Hadley Greengave [sic] gave a vivid description of the meltdown plus a history of the statue’s connection to Unite the Right:
The Post added that it’s [sic] journalists “were allowed to join on the condition they did not identify the foundry’s location and state or record the workers’ faces to protect them and the facility.”So the statue of the Confederate general that once stood in Charlottesville—the one that prompted the deadly Unite the Right rally in 2017—was now being cut into fragments and dropped into a furnace, dissolving into a sludge of glowing bronze.
Six years ago, groups with ties to the Confederacy had sued to stop the monument from being taken down. Torch-bearing white nationalists descended on the Virginia college town to protest its removal, and one man drove his car through a crowd of counterprotesters, killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer and injuring 35 others.
He has all the right enemies and simply noted (in 140 characters or less) a profound truth about the anti-white Woke who barbarously melted down the Robert E. Lee: “They absolutely want your extinction.”
We need all the allies we can get and when the richest man on earth notices that The Great Replacement and destruction of statues celebrating Dead White Males is about extinction, that’s what you call a big White Pill.
He might not be /OurGuy, but Musk most certainly is not on the side of the Anti-White Woke.
