His name is Thomas Hand Jr., an expecting father and husband murdered in front of his wife and two-year-old son by a black 17-year-old.

Hand and his wife had recently relocated from New Orleans to Montgomery Alabama, hoping to escape the rising crime rates in The Big Easy. Things were looking up for the couple, who had recently celebrated their 6th wedding anniversary and were expecting a second child. Hand’s wife was a successful beauty pageant contestant, winning Miss Mississippi in 2008.

The devout Christian couple made a habit out of preaching in different neighborhoods each weekend, bringing along their two-year-old son.

On Saturday, January 22nd, Thomas Hand was gunned down in view of his wife and child in broad daylight by Jerimiah Walker, a black teenager, while preaching on the 3100 block of Texas Street in Montgomery.

The Sun reports:

“Pregnant Kozlowski and the couple's two-year-old son Roman were speaking to a family on the opposite side of the street when they reportedly saw a shirtless and mumbling Jerimiah Walker walk up to Hand before shooting him.”

Paul Kersey writes:

“Were white privilege real, or white supremacy a reality in the cradle of the so-called Confederacy, the murder of a white man by a black male in front of his wife and child would be cause for a national story.”
