Another immigrant or student visa murder, this time a Ph.D. student at UNC who murdered his professor [Who is Tailei Qi, suspect in fatal UNC-Chapel Hill shooting? by Emma Saletta, Daily Mail, August 30, 2023].

Tailei Qi shot Zijie Yan—his academic advisor. Qui came out of Wuhan University, and from his academic credentials he was quite bright, but from his social postings socially backward.

In the world of conspiracy was he an agent of Peking sent to knock off Yan for some unknown offense to Peking, or just a maladjusted individual? That’s the wrong question, the right question is  “Why were these Chinese nationals here in the first place?”

There’s no scarcity of highly intelligent Americans.  Could it be UNC just wants cheaper labor or is beholden to Chinese money? Personally, I regard the Chinese academic influx as an espionage influx for which there is already ample proof. Peking, like the Manchus before them, regards China as the center of the universe to which all barbarians must do the kowtow. China doesn’t even regard the U.S. as a legitimate nation, merely a shopping emporium.

Domestically, on schedule, cries about rescinding the Second Amendment will go up, ignoring actual facts such as “Where did he get the gun?,” “Was he legally allowed to possess a firearm?” and “What type of firearm was it?” To bring up the question of an alien propensity for murder will be called racist and xenophobic even when the victim is the same race as the perpetrator. That certain people should be prevented from entering the country because they may be dangerous or a threat to national security is bigotry to a Left determined to replace Americans.

James Fulford writes: On the gun control note, UNC-Chapel Hill is formally a ”gun-free” zone, foreclosing options for self-defense by the students and faculty.

Breitbart has the story:

The murder that occurred on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus Monday took place in a gun-free zone.

The buildings at UNC Chapel Hill are gun-free via school policy.

The policy says: “It is a felony, punishable by fine and/or imprisonment, to possess or carry, openly or concealed, any gun, rifle, pistol, or other firearm of any kind, or any dynamite cartridge, bomb, grenade, mine, or powerful explosive on any University campus, in any University-owned or operated facility, or at a curricular or extracurricular activity sponsored by the University. Such conduct also may constitute a violation of the Honor Code.”

The exception to this policy is that concealed carry permit holders “may have a handgun in a closed compartment or container within the person’s locked vehicle or in a locked container securely affixed to the person’s vehicle.” But those handguns may not be transported into university buildings or carried or campus for self-defense.
