Earlier: The Fulford File | ”Actually, There Has Always Been Migration”—But In Those Days They Called It Invading!

It seems like every day that I pull up a headline on immigration from either Breitbart or The Gateway Pundit when I go look at the comments section, invariably someone will write something along the lines of ”They are not immigrants!  They are illegal aliens!”  (or invaders, or insurgents, or criminals etc.).  It’s often a detraction from the story at hand.

A quick look in the dictionary or online will show you the definition of an immigrant is ”one who migrates” and if you then look up ”migrate,” it tells you to move from one country, place, or locality to another” or some variation on that definition.

So, clearly, there is nothing about migration that confers legal status.  Why then do so many persist with this line of criticism?  I have to conclude that the leftist propaganda is winning but not for the reasons so many may think.

We have been sold the lie so often that we are a nation of immigrants that the American public has somehow bought into the concept that any immigrant must therefore be legal. Define the language, define the culture.  Whether they realize it or not, they are subtly arguing that we are the forever immigration nation.  That people will always come to the Magic Dirt that is the United States.  That the United States was not founded by pioneers and settlers, but by immigrants at Ellis Island.

It is totally possible to migrate illegally.  In fact, some of the same people who write against using the term ”illegal immigration” find it hard to find the right words to use when writing about migration.

If we are to get an immigration moratorium, we will have to reclaim the language not from the leftists (who use it properly), but from the brainwashed masses who believe we are a ”nation of immigrants.”

Led Zeppelin’s ”Immigrant Song” makes the point that immigrants can also be conquerors:

We come from the land of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow
The hammer of the gods
Will drive our ships to new lands
To fight the horde, sing and cry
Valhalla, I am coming
On we sweep with threshing oar
Our only goal will be the western shore
Ah-ah, ah!
Ah-ah, ah!
We come from the land of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow
How soft your fields so green
Can whisper tales of gore
Of how we calmed the tides of war
We are your overlords
